District Manager, Valencia Soil and Water Conservation District
 
Do you care about the environment?  Are you concerned that the southwest is one of four regions of the world experiencing mega-drought?  Would you like an opportunity to bring your knowledge and experience to bear in the conservation of natural resources in the Middle Rio Grande region of New Mexico? If so, please consider applying for the position of District Manager of the Valencia Soil and Water Conservation District (Valencia SWCD), located at Whitfield Wildlife Conservation Area in Belen. Whitfield, a 97-acre preserve adjacent to the Middle Rio Grande, was awarded Best Outdoor Nature Park/Recreation Area by readers of the Valencia County News Bulletin in 2024 and 2025.   Valencia SWCD’s service area includes Valencia and northern Socorro counties, the Pueblo of Isleta, and the Pueblo of Laguna. Come join a great team dedicated to conservation, hands-on outdoor science learning, and service.

BIOCHAR Workshop – February 21, 2026

Come join us on Saturday, February 21 from 9:00AM to 2:00PM to learn how to make biochar and how it helps build healthy soil! You will participate in a biochar burn using the Ring of Fire kiln and inoculate the biochar with compost. FREE Event open to the public.
