Pablo Viramontes - Acting Conservation Program Manager

Growing up on a small pecan farm in El Paso, Texas, that paralleled the Rio Grande River, I always felt I had a special connection with nature. Natural and human impacts on precious resources such as the Rio Grande and spatial processes across landscapes have always been an interest of mine. I believe this led me to explore the field of geography.

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in Geography with a concentration on Human-Environment Relationships and a Master of Science in Applied Geography from New Mexico State University.  My graduate work focused on geography education, citizen science, and outreach in the K-12 system. My passion for educating others about spatial processes, engaging with their environment, and becoming stewards of the Earth has pushed me to pursue a career in natural resource conservation. I am eager to take on the exciting role of Acting Conservation Program Manager at the Valencia Soil and Water Conservation District!
